It's a robust and exciting math learning experience that serves as a perfect supplement to your classroom curriculum.
Founded in 2008, MathCON has grown into one of the largest and most prestigious math competitions in the world, with over 430,000 high-achieving students from 3,000+ schools participating in one of our annual competitions.
MathCON is open to all students from 4th - 12th grade across the United States and Canada, and unfolds over two dynamic rounds. Here is a breakdown of the registration process and schedule:
MathCON offers two types of registration: individual and school. Schools and learning centers may register for one of our group packages that offer up to 1,000 student seats in the competition.
Leading up to the first round of competition, MathCON offers 16 weekly practice tests aimed at sharpening students' knowledge of the core math concepts that they'll face during the actual competitive exam.
On January 15, 2025, online access to the first round exam will open. Students are able to take this test any time between January 15 and March 7, 2025. The test may only be taken once, is timed, and offers 32 multiple-choice questions on algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory.
After the first round testing window closes, the top 628 scoring students will be invited to participate in the MathCON finals, taking place May 10, 2025 at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL.
Similar to the first round test, students in the MathCON finals will take an in-person timed exam with 32 multiple-choice questions on algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory. Scores will be calculated on-site and winners will be announced at the end of the event.

4th-12th Grades
The first round online test will be timed! 50 minutes, 32 multiple-choice questions to be exact.
To register your school for MathCON and become the MathCON Coordinator, any school administrator, math department head, or teacher can complete the registration.
Once your school is registered, up to 1,000 students can participate in the first round of the MathCON Online Test. The MathCON Coordinator will receive a username and password, which can be shared with other interested math teachers at your school.
With this login information, math teachers can then add their students (either their entire math class or selected students) to the MathCON Admin Portal. Students can start studying practice tests and take the online test when the testing window opens in January. Teachers can continue to add or upload students until the last day of testing, March 7, 2025.
